Pancreas
Our current modelling of the pancreas are insulin related where we base our hypothesis partly on both in vivo experiments where we investigate insulin production based on carbohydrate and protein ingestion, and partly from in vitro experiments where we investigate pancreatic decay functionality over time, proliferation and insulin resistance progression.
We also aim to develop models for insulin secretion from the beta cells in the pancreas. This work is in an early stage at the moment. In the collaboration with Xuan Wang, we are studying the relation between mutations in the GLP1 receptor and insulin secretion and in the long term development of type 2 diabetes.
